Paws and Claws Rescue is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization made up of a small group of people who devote and dedicate their love, time, and personal resources 7 days a week, 365 days per year to care for homeless, abused, and abandoned animals. We do not have a shelter. We each foster from our homes.
Our Mission & Why We're Different
Our mission is to reduce the number of unwanted pets through our voucher program by stopping unwanted births and unfortunate deaths of animal offspring. And:
- To promote kindness to animals through education
- To protect animals from abuse, neglect, exploitation and over-population
- To advocate responsible pet ownership
- To assist in the reunion of lost pets with their owners
We are dedicated to caring for homeless pets in our community through adoption, community awareness, fostering and caring for companion animals until forever homes can be found.
Paws and Claws Rescue is different because we are a shelterless rescue (we have no building). Our members foster and care for the animals in our program from their homes.

With great courage, compassion and candor, three of the Paws & Claws volunteers share with us their harrowing and heroic stories of the life as an animal rescuer in the South. We learn in intimate detail what tragedies and travesties rescuers face when dealing with a culture that does not hold animals in high regard.
The abuse and neglect is rampant and the problem continues to worsen as sterilization is not widely accepted or sought and the animals continue to procreate. We also learn from their years of experience and insight that laws have not been instituted or enforced to alleviate the problem and the abuse and neglect continues unabated.
All of our Paws & Claws volunteers spend every waking hour working with the animals they can save while trying to educate and provide spay and neuter assistance to people in central Arkansas where they live. Some of their trials and tribulations are documented in each of these stories along with the heartwarming moments when a dog overcomes a life threatening injury, finds a new loving home or has its first real meal in days, weeks or months.
Despite our ongoing and tireless efforts, our contribution to the solution is a small one given the enormity of the problem. We wanted to share our reality of the problem that exists in the hope that enoughpeople will learn the truth and be outraged enough to take action.
